يا بلادي أنت ميراث الجدود

O my country, you are the legacy of the forefathers

لارعى الله يداً تمتد لك

May God not protect a hand that reaches out to you

فاسلمي، إنا -على الدهر- جنود

So be safe, for we are—through the ages—soldiers

لا نبالي إن سلمت من هلك

We do not care if you are saved from ruin

وخذي منا وثيقات العهود

And take from us the sure pledges of vows

إننا يا ليبيا لن نخذلك

We, O Libya, will never fail you

لن نعود للقيود قد تحررنا وحررنا الوطن

We shall not return to chains; we have been freed and we have freed the الوطن

جرّد الأجداد عزماً مرهفاً

The forefathers drew forth a keen resolve

يوم ناداهم منادٍ للكفاح

The day a caller summoned them to struggle

ثم ساروا يحملون المصحفا

Then they marched carrying the Quran

باليد الأولى، وبالأخرى سلاح

In one hand, and in the other a weapon

فإذا في الكون دين وصفا

Then in the universe there was religion and purity

وإذا العالم خير وصلاح

And then the world was goodness and righteousness

فالخلود للجدود إنهم قد شرفوا هذا الوطن

Eternity belongs to the forefathers; they have honored this homeland

ليبيا ليبيا ليبيا

يا ابن ليبيا، يا ابن آساد الشرى

O son of Libya, O son of the lions of the desert

إننا للمجد والمجد والمجدُ لنا

We are for glory, and glory, and glory is ours

مذ سرونا حمد القوم السرى

Since we set out, the people praised the journey

بارك الله لنا استقلالنا

May God bless our independence

فابتغوا العلياء شأواً في الورى

So seek the heights, a lofty place among mankind

واستعدوا للوغى أشبالنا

And prepare for battle, our lion cubs

للغلاب يا شباب إنما الدنيا كفاح للوطن

For victory, O youth, this world is but struggle for the homeland
