Flying proudly on the high djebels,

نحن جند في سبيل الحق ثرنا

We are soldiers in revolt for truth

و إلى استقلالنا بالحرب قمنا

And we have fought for our independence.

لم يكن يصغى لنا لما نطقنا

When we spoke, nobody listened to us,

فاتخذنا رنة البارود وزنا

So we have taken the noise of gunpowder as our rhythm

و عزفنا نغمة الرشاش لحنا

And the sound of machine guns as our melody,

يا فرنسا قد مضى وقت العتاب

O France, the time of reproof is over

و طويناه كما يطوى الكتاب

And we have ended it as a book is ended;

فاستعدي و خذي منا الجواب

نحن من أبطالنا ندفع جندا

و على أشلائنا نصنع مجدا

صرخة الأوطان من ساح الفدا

The cry of the Fatherland sounds from the battlefields.

فاسمعوها و استجيبوا للندا

Listen to it and answer the call!

و اكتبوها بدماء الشهدا

Let it be written with the blood of martyrs

و اقرأوها لبني الجيل غدا

And be read to future generations.
