Fear not! The red banner that floats in these dawns will never fade;
Sönmeden yurdumun üstünde tüten en son ocak.
The last hearth of my homeland still smolders before it fades.
O benim milletimin yıldızıdır, parlayacak!
It is the star of my nation, it will shine!
O benimdir, o benim milletimindir ancak!
It is mine, it belongs only to my nation!
Çatma kurban olayım, çehreni ey nazlı hilâl;
Do not frown, I beg you, O coy crescent;
Kahraman ırkıma bir gül… Ne bu şiddet, bu celâl?
Smile upon my heroic race… What is this violence, this wrath?
Sana olmaz dökülen kanlarımız sonra helâl;
The blood we have shed for you will not be lawful to you thereafter;
Hakkıdır Hakk’a tapan, milletimin istiklâl.
Independence is the right of my nation, which worships the Truth.
Ben ezelden beridir hür yaşadım, hür yaşarım.
I have lived free from the beginning, and I live free.

Doğacaktır sana va’dettiği günler Hakk’ın,
The days promised to you by the Truth will surely dawn,
Kim bilir, belki yarın, belki yarından da yakın.
Who knows, perhaps tomorrow, perhaps even sooner than tomorrow.
Bastığın yerleri “toprak!” diyerek geçme, tanı!
Do not pass over the ground you tread saying, “It is only soil!”; know it!
Düşün altındaki binlerce kefensiz yatanı.
Think of the thousands lying beneath you, unshrouded.
Sen şehîd oğlusun, incitme, yazıktır atanı:
You are the son of martyrs, do not wound your forefathers, it is a pity:
Verme, dünyaları alsan da, bu cennet vatanı.
Do not give up this paradise homeland, even if you are given the worlds.
Kim bu cennet vatanın uğruna olmaz ki fedâ?
Who would not sacrifice themselves for this paradise homeland?
Şühedâ fışkıracak toprağı sıksan, şühedâ!
If you squeeze the soil, martyrs will gush forth, martyrs!
Cânı, cânânı, bütün varımı alsın da Hudâ,
Let the Creator take my life, my beloved, all that I have,
Etmesin tek vatanımdan beni dünyâda cüdâ.
But let Him not separate me from my homeland in this world.

O zaman vecd ile bin secde eder – varsa – taşım;
Then, in ecstasy, I would bow a thousand times — if I had a stone;
Her cerîhamdan, İlâhi, boşanır kanlı yaşım;
From every wound of mine, O Lord, my bloody tears would pour;
Fışkırır rûh-i mücerred gibi yerden na’şım!
My body would rise from the earth like a pure spirit!
O zaman yükselerek Arş’a değer, belki, başım!
Then, rising up, perhaps my head would reach the Throne!
Dalgalan sen de şafaklar gibi ey şanlı hilâl!
Wave on, like the dawns, O glorious crescent!
Olsun artık dökülen kanlarım hepsi helâl.
Now let all my spilled blood be lawful.
Ebediyyen sana yok, ırkıma yok izmihlâl:
For all eternity there is no ruin for you, no ruin for my race:
Hakkıdır, hür yaşamış, bayrağımın hürriyet;
The right of my flag, which has lived free, is freedom;
Hakkıdır, Hakk’a tapan, milletimin istiklâl.
The right of my nation, which worships the Truth, is independence.
