Ry Tanindrazanay malala ô!
Madagascar's national anthem, "Ry Tanindraza nay malala ô," was composed by Norbert Raharisoa and written by Pasteur Rahajason. It was officially adopted by parliament in 1959, before the country gained full independence.
The anthem was first performed when Madagascar became an autonomous republic within the Union Française.
The Malagasy Parliament officially adopted the anthem on April 27.
Madagascar achieved full independence on June 26, with the anthem already in use.
Madagascar adopted its national anthem in 1959, a year before the country gained full independence from France in 1960.
