Oben am jungen Rhein
Liechtenstein's national anthem, "Oben am jungen Rhein," uniquely shares its melody with "God Save the King." Its original lyrics by Jakob Joseph Jauch were adopted in 1850 and later revised in 1963.
Lyricist Jakob Joseph Jauch composed the original words for "Oben am jungen Rhein."
Jauch's original lyrics were officially adopted as Liechtenstein's national anthem.
The anthem's lyrics were revised, removing several verses and altering historical references to Germany.
Despite having no historical ties to Great Britain, Liechtenstein's national anthem uses the exact same melody as the British "God Save the King."
