Himno Nacional de El Salvador
El Salvador's national anthem, with lyrics by Juan José Cañas and music by Juan Aberle, was first performed and commonly adopted in 1879. It later received official recognition in 1953.
General Juan José Cañas wrote the lyrics for the national anthem.
Italian composer Juan Aberle completed the music for the anthem around this year.
The anthem was sung for the first time by children and students at the National Palace on September 15.
It was commonly adopted as the National Song following its initial performance on September 15.
The anthem received official government recognition on December 11.
El Salvador's national anthem is notable for being one of the longest in existence when performed in its full, typical style, including musical introduction, chorus, and verse.
