Kde domov můj
The Czech national anthem, "Kde domov můj?", originated as part of an 1834 opera by Josef Kajetán Tyl and Frantisek Jan Škroup. It became part of the Czechoslovak anthem in 1918 and the sole anthem of the Czech Republic in 1993.
Josef Kajetán Tyl's opera "Fidlovačka" premiered, featuring the song "Kde domov můj?" with music by F. Škroup.
Following liberation, "Kde domov můj?" became the first part of the new Czechoslovak state anthem.
Upon the dissolution of Czechoslovakia, the song was adopted as the official anthem of the new Czech Republic.
Although originally composed with two verses, only the first verse has ever been used in its official capacity as a national anthem.
