Allah Peliharakan Sultan · ﷲ ڤليهاراکن سلطان
Brunei's national anthem, "Allah Peliharakan Sultan," was composed in 1947 by two youths and officially adopted in 1951. Its lyrics underwent a minor change in 1984 to reflect the Sultan's updated title upon the nation's full independence.
A group of youths decided the nation needed an anthem, leading to its composition by two of their members.
Awang Haji Besar bin Sagap composed the music, and Pengiran Haji Mohamed Yusuf bin Abdul Rahim wrote the lyrics.
The composition, "Allah Peliharakan Sultan," was officially adopted as the national anthem.
Upon gaining full independence, the lyrics were slightly modified to reflect the Sultan's new title, "His Majesty."
The anthem was composed by a group of youths almost 40 years before Brunei achieved full independence in 1984.
